The LRB M1951 -  Field Jacket

LRB M1951 Boreal Field Jacket is our version of the M1951 field shirt.  We loved the style of the M1951, but wanted to add our own features to make it more functional.

The LRB M1951 is built using the same 100% wool that we use for our Boreal shirts.  The LRB M1951 features a snap closure making this more of a Jacket than a shirt, though you can wear it either way.  The outside has two upper chest pockets with flap closures - each secured with a snap.  The underside of the flap is a camouflage cargo parachute dated 1952.  The outside also has two side pockets -  each with a D-ring to secure your keys or tools.  The wrists are double snap closure.  On the inside, there are four pockets sewn into 200 denier cordura - two open chest pockets and two zipper closure lower pockets.

Wool is naturally flame retardant, antibacterial, and resistant to dirt and oils. It holds body heat when it's wet, and wicks moisture away from your body to regulate your personal environment.   You'll spend less time worrying about staying clean, working with fire in camp, or changing your layers when the temperatures shift. What's more, we've pre-shrunk the fabric so you can care for it at home.

Handmade with pride in Duluth, Minnesota.

Durable, Rugged, Outdoor Jacket Built to Last a Lifetime

I used to be a fan of filson wool jackets. This jacket changed all that. The quality of the wool and craftsmanship ship is unparalleled.

I was nervous about sizing (I always am with ordering a garment online), however I ordered based on the size chart and it is spot on; not too tight and not too baggy. For reference, I am 6ft tall, 220lbs, with a 46ish inch chest. I ordered the xl and it provides just enough room to layer with a sweater.

An instant favorite that I anticipate with last a lifetime.

Simple pure wool jacket so hard to find something like this at any price. love the pockets! 4 inside pockets 2 with zippers 4 outside, 2 hand warmer, 2 chest pockets. large snaps, easy on, easy off. Just perfect. I called Jason he was great at helping me get the perfect fit. Loose enough to add layers underneath. If you are on the fence -don't be. You WILL be happy

    Field Jacket

This Field Jacket is the best piece of clothing I have ever purchased. It is built like a tank, this thing should last for decades. I love the pockets both inside and out. It is warm. It fits well, but runs a bit big which is good for layering. I had questions about sizing as I normally wear a 2XL, so I called and spoke with Jason who owns this business. He was very helpful, and recommended a XL which fits great. Shipped very quickly as well. You cannot ask for better customer service. Pretty rare these days to call a business and have the owner pick up the phone. This jacket is worth every penny and then some!

    LRB M1951

I originally ordered the Boreal Shirt Anorak before I realized that this field jacket was also offered by Lester River Bushcraft. I called the number listed on the site to ask about an exchange and Jason answered immediately. He said, “no problem at all” and I sent it back for the exchange.

The field jacket was shipped to me very quickly and once I open the box I understood what all the fuss was about. This thing is built like a tank and has quickly become my new favorite article of clothing. It looks great and was definitely built to last.

Thank you, Jason, for the excellent customer service and for producing a product that is top notch. I can’t say enough about this company’s dedication to their customers and the quality of their product. If you’re on the fence, buy this jacket. You’ll be very happy that you did.

Just got mine today. Got here in less than 3 weeks (lead time was 6-8). Wool, stitching, measurements/fit all top notch. The only critque I would give it is the hand pockets are bit far back and make using them seem a little awkward but they still serve thier purpose. Most items will fit inside the garmet anyway. Interior breast pockets will hold the largest smartphone you can throw at it and its just an overall, simple yet smart shirt jacket the appears to be built for years to come. Now just for some cold!!!
